I am currently writing my PhD thesis “I sit beside the fire and think”: J.R.R. Tolkien, British Romanticism, and their Cultural Legacies at the University of Glasgow under the supervision of Professor Dimitra Fimi and Professor Matthew Sangster. Previously, my MbyRes thesis The Romantic Faëry: Keats, Tolkien, and the Perilous Realm was supervised by Professor Nick Groom and Dr Christopher Stokes at the University of Exeter, and my undergraduate dissertation at the University of Portsmouth sought to define The Byronic Sublime.

I have edited several volumes including Adapting Tolkien (2021), Tolkien and the Gothic (2024), and The Romantic Spirit in the Works of J.R.R. Tolkien (2024 – shortlisted for The Tolkien Society Best Book and Best Article Awards). My articles and reviews have also been published in the Journal of Tolkien Research and I have presented at a range of conferences on Romanticism and its legacies, environmental humanities, speculative philosophy and fiction, and c19-21 fantasy fiction.
I have over twelve-years experience teaching across a range of subjects and ages (including English, Music, and Drama in secondary schools and colleges), specialising in English as an Additional/Second Language (EAL/ESOL). Now, I teach across the English Literature and Comparative Literature courses at the University of Glasgow. When I’m not teaching, I can either be found at CrossFit Glasgow or developing my practice in photography while exploring Scotland’s wilderness. An Etsy page is currently in development.
